Daniel was king of Israel and had committed adultery with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite. In a moment of passion and over indulgence, David operated out of his lusts and created a whole chain of events that included lies, deception and murder. God eventually sent Nathan, the prophet, to confront David’ sins and then finally, when confronted, he admitted “I have sinned”.
God is always trying to give us time and space to repent so that we will not have to be made a spectacle. Our pride often continues to deceive us about those “secret sins” that we so easily judge others about, but make excuses for our own. Take some time to allow the Spirit of Truth to permeate your inward parts to search for sins of commission and or omission. Have you really obeyed the last thing God told you to do? Have you been operating in financial integrity? Did you cause strife or division in your family or on your job? Have you been absolutely honest in your relationships? Have you been obedient to the people that have rule over you? Are you hiding secrets or money, or plans from those you are called to submit to? Whatever it may be, God desires for you the Spirit of Truth to reign. Don’t wait for the next prophet to rebuke you openly. Pray the prayer of David now – “Lord, I have sinned, forgive me.”
